As Black History Month begins, Champion’s Coaching is proud to honor the contributions and achievements of Black individuals in the field of aquatic sports. This month-long celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the past, recognize the present, and inspire future generations to break barriers and make waves in the world of swimming.
Champion’s Coaching has always been dedicated to empowering BIPOC communities by providing access to swimming lessons, water safety programs, and competitive swimming opportunities. Our mission is to dismantle systemic hurdles in aquatic sports and foster inclusion, accessibility, and elite swim coaching for all.
Throughout February, we will be highlighting the stories of Black swimmers who have made significant contributions to the sport. From trailblazers who broke racial barriers to contemporary athletes who continue to inspire, these stories will be shared on our website and social media platforms. We aim to educate and inspire our community by showcasing the resilience, determination, and excellence of Black swimmers.
Champion’s Coaching is also committed to addressing the racial disparities in swimming skills and drowning rates. According to recent studies, Black individuals are significantly less likely to know how to swim compared to their white counterparts, and they face higher drowning rates. Our programs aim to bridge this gap by offering affordable and accessible swimming lessons to all.
As we celebrate Black History Month, we invite everyone to join us in recognizing the achievements of Black swimmers and supporting our mission to create a more inclusive and equitable world of aquatic sports. Together, we can make a splash and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, swim, and thrive.
