Champion’s Coaching Launches Fin Camp 2026 to Build Confidence, Safety, and Lifelong Swimming Skills
Knightdale, NC — Champion’s Coaching is proud to announce in partnership with the Town of Knightdale’s Park & Rec the 2nd Annual Fin Camp 2026: Where Confident Swimming Begins, an introductory swim program designed to help children develop essential water skills in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment. Classes start June 15, 2026 at the Knightdale Community Pool, located at 202 Milburnie Rd, Knightdale, NC 27545.
Learning how to swim is widely recognized as one of the most important life skills a child can have, and Fin Camp 2026 is built to ensure that every swimmer’s first experience in the water is positive and confidence-building.
Fin Camp, lead by Head Coach Zion Hall of the Firebirds Swim Team, is specifically created for beginner swimmers, including children who are new to the water, those who feel unsure or nervous, and families seeking a patient, welcoming program to build foundational skills. At the same time, the camp also supports swimmers with some experience who want to strengthen their fundamentals and overall comfort in the water.
A Different Approach to Swim Instruction
Unlike competitive swim camps, Fin Camp 2026 focuses on learning, safety, and confidence rather than performance or competition. The program emphasizes a low-pressure environment where swimmers are encouraged to progress at their own pace while receiving personalized instruction from experienced coaches.
Participants benefit from:
- Beginner-friendly instruction tailored to each swimmer
- A strong emphasis on water safety and comfort
- Step-by-step progression of skills
- A supportive and encouraging atmosphere
- Coaches experienced in working with first-time swimmers
“Our goal is to meet every swimmer exactly where they are,” said Zion Hall Champion’s Coaching Executive Director and Head Coach. “Whether that means putting their face in the water for the first time or refining early swim movements, Fin Camp is about building confidence first.” By the end of the camp, swimmers leave with more than technique – they gain a sense of accomplishment and excitement about being in the water
More Than Fun, It’s a Life Skill!
Across the United States, child drownings continue to rise, remaining one of the leading causes of accidental death for children, particularly among those under the age of 14. These risks are not evenly distributed. Longstanding disparities in access to swim instruction mean that children from underserved and historically marginalized communities are significantly less likely to have formal swim training, increasing their vulnerability around pools, lakes, and other bodies of water. Fin Camp 2026 was created in direct response to this urgent need, with a mission to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn essential swim and water safety skills. By teaching children how to float, breathe, move safely, and respond confidently in the water, Fin Camp empowers young swimmers with life-saving skills that can make the difference in an emergency and set the foundation for a lifetime of safety and confidence.
Supporting Families and Building Foundations
Fin Camp 2026 is designed as a family-centered experience that recognizes the vital role parents and caregivers play in a child’s water safety journey. Parents are encouraged to attend sessions, observe instruction, and actively engage alongside their swimmers. Throughout the program, families are introduced to essential water safety practices, supervision strategies, and ways to reinforce swim skills outside of class. The camp concludes with a celebratory final-day “graduation,” where swimmers demonstrate their progress and families come together to celebrate achievements, build community, and reinforce the importance of continued learning and water safety beyond FIN Camp.
